Why JOAN

A specialist practice for a new era of discovery.

AI Discovery sits where most organisations have no single owner. It falls between acquisition, data, content, governance and trust. JOAN exists to close that gap: to help financial services firms understand, measure and improve how they are discovered, represented and recommended as AI reshapes the customer journey.

Why the combination matters.

Most organisations understand digital acquisition. A smaller number understand rigorous behavioural measurement. Very few connect the two in a way that lets a leadership team make commercial decisions about AI-driven discovery.

That combination is what JOAN was built around. One discipline understands how AI systems find, interpret and represent an organisation. The other understands how to measure behaviour and exposure with enough rigour for a board to act on. Brought together, they turn a vague concern about AI visibility into a structured, evidence-based view of commercial risk.

It is also why our work is anchored in a defined framework, the Discovery Standard™, rather than in opinion. The Standard is what makes JOAN’s thinking repeatable, measurable and independent of any one person: a method a growing team can apply consistently, and a firm can be built on.

The people behind it.

AI Discovery Strategy

Anurag Ahluwalia

Anurag has spent close to two decades in digital search, the last ten years embedded in financial services, building search and discovery functions from the ground up inside a major UK bank where none existed before. He pioneered an early organisational approach to Generative Engine Optimisation, translating an emerging and highly disruptive shift into something leadership teams could understand, fund and act on. His work focuses on how organisations remain visible, represented and recommended as discovery moves from search engines to AI systems.

Measurement & Analytics

Joseph

Joseph works at the intersection of behavioural analytics, performance measurement and research. He has spent his career quantifying digital behaviour across financial services, e-commerce and the public sector, including large-scale public sector programmes and the rebuilding of measurement functions for one of the UK’s largest financial institutions. His work helps organisations quantify exposure, identify blind spots and track improvement with rigour rather than guesswork.

From experimentation to capability.

JOAN is building a specialist practice in AI Discovery, helping leadership teams move from isolated experiments to a managed, measurable commercial capability. We start by establishing where an organisation stands today, and give it a practical roadmap for where it needs to be.
